Pure mathematics is, in its own way, the poetry of logical ideas.
The Department of mathematics was established in 2017, as a mission to introduce to the college the beautiful world of mathematical sciences. The sole notion of the existence of this department is to nurture promising and aspiring mathematicians ready to broaden the horizon of existing scientific knowledge and interpretation.
B.Sc. (Honours) Mathematics
B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics provides the foundation for a promising and growth-oriented future. A student enrolling in this course gets entitled to pursue courses namely MCA, M.Sc IT, actuarial sciences, MBA or M.Sc in Mathematics, for his/her higher studies.
Each of the above degrees leads to career options in such fields as Data Science, Actuary, Statistician, Data Analyst, etc., which are all expected to continue experiencing constant elite market value as the necessity for skilled professionals continues to increase due to the proven dependence of each business upon clear data analytics and growth strategies.
Also, the course shall make the student eligible to pursue the path of becoming a lecturer to train these skilled professionals for the industry.
Thus, the demand for learned mathematicians has always been and shall continue to be a driving force in the market and every learned mathematician shall continue to highly valued.
The mission of the mathematics department is to enhance analytical and logical thinking of students keeping Mathematics at the centre stage. The department is also keen on encouraging a close relationship between teachers and students in pursuit of the common objective of learning. In fulfilling this mission, the department creates an environment where the the faculty can continue to grow as teachers and scholars, while providing public and professional service.
To encourage students to develop their analytical and logical thinking through projects.
To conduct faculty development programmes through workshops/seminars.
To establish industry links to develop mathematical models and help the industry.
To conduct outreach programmes for those students who are keen on developing mathematical skills.
The society has been established keeping in mind the holistic growth of the students.
The completion of this 3 year under graduate degree program opens up a palette of opportunities that a student becomes eligible to avail according to her choice. This course instils comprehensive analytical skills and competency in Mathematics.
The program lays the foundation for higher studies in this discipline, e.g. M.Sc., M.Phil and PhD upon the completion of which the student becomes eligible to deliver lectures in various colleges and institutions. B.Sc.(Hons) Mathematics also serves as a deciding factor in attaining different degrees mathematics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Astronomy, Actuarial Science, MCA/MBA/CA/CS, to name a few.
From delivering lectures in government and private universities to working as a researcher or an analyst or as a statistician, the opportunities are widespread.
Business Analyst - A Business Analyst provides solutions which can resolve business issues technically. She also examines documentation to enhance growing sales.
Risk Analyst - Risk analysts are in charge of monitoring the financial risks involved in investments. They usually work for banks and financial institutions
Statistician - Statistician is in charge of the evaluation, interpretation, collation, and presentation of quantitative information and data.
Data Analyst - Data analysts are responsible for collecting information for market research and logistics in order to utilize that information to take decisions.
Mathematician - The mathematician is responsible for utilizing formulas, concepts, and models to prove or disapprove the theories. They utilize strategies for solving business issues and engineering etc.
Subject Matter Expert - An SME has proficiency in his or her subject and guides other professionals on the project to ensure the content is accurate.
