Library

The College has a large and well-equipped computerized library with the latest text books, reference books and journals in various subjects and disciplines. It also has books, journals and magazines of common interest in order to encourage general reading and to provide a broad exposure of the mind to students. The library works on an Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) system that helps locate all the reading material available on the computer. The College has Wi-Fi Internet connections for the use of the staff and students. Separate reading rooms for the students and teachers make it more user-friendly. A Photocopy machine is also available inside the library for the students.

Library working hours

The College Library and Reading Room are open to all students throughout the year from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (barring Sundays and other gazetted holidays).

The library has been divided into various sections:

  1. Text Book Section: Books in this section are issued only for seven days due to heavy demand for the same.

  2. Reference-cum-Reserve Section: Books in the Reference Section are meant for consultation in the reading room only. Books will be issued only on an overnight basis from the Reserve Section.

  3. Periodical Section: Periodicals, Journals, etc., of special value are included in this section. Bound volumes and loose issues of periodicals are available for consultation only. The Library also subscribes to 18 newspapers in both languages – Hindi and English.

  4. Book Bank Section: All needy and deserving students can borrow books from these sections for a maximum period of one semester. The Book Bank Books are available for Economically Weak Section (EWS) students after submission of BPL cards. They must apply to the Principal on plain paper at the beginning of the year.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
  1. Silence is to be maintained at all times inside the Library.

  2. Membership: All students of the College are entitled to become members of library.

  3. A student should show her OMV Card to get a book issued.

  4. Students of Honours courses are allowed to borrow four library books. B.A./B.Com Programme students are allowed to borrow two library books at a time for a maximum period of seven days. M.A. students may borrow up to six books for a maximum period of one month.

    • Timings for issue of books: Text Book Section: 9.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
    • Reserve Section: 12.00 noon to 4.00 p.m.
  5. If a book issued from the Reference-cum-Reserve Section is not returned on the due date and time, the student can be debarred from borrowing books from the library for a certain number of days.

  6. If any student is held responsible for tearing out pages from a book or a magazine, strict action will be taken against her.

  7. A student who has lost a book or magazine shall immediately make a written report of the same to the Librarian. In case the book is not found within a week the student shall replace the book or pay the current cost. In case the matter is not reported immediately, the student will be liable to pay a fine for the delay in addition to the cost of the book.
