Dr. Shailza Singh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, Bharati College, University of
Delhi. She specializes in the field of International Politics and Security Studies. Dr. Singh obtained her PhD from the Centre for Canadian, US and Latin American Studies, School
of International Studies, JNU, New Delhi, India. Her thesis was on US Homeland Security and Challenges of
Governance. She wrote her MPhil dissertation on US-India Relationship During the Administration of George W.
Bush: From Engagement to Strategic Partnership. She obtained her Master’s degree from the School of International
Studies in Politics (With Specialization in International Relations). Her schooling and college education is from
Allahabad. Prior to joining Bharati College she also worked as an Assistant Professor in some of the prestigious
colleges of University of Delhi, like Miranda House Hindu College, IP College for Women, and Jesus and Mary
College. Dr. Singh has also been involved with the Women’s Development Cell and Research Committees of different
colleges. She has given talks on rights of women in conflict areas, security problematique and conflict resolution and
presented papers on her areas of work on several international forums including International Studies Association and
Global Transparency Conference. She had also a member of the International Studies Association and its Global South
Caucus, and also a member of the International Transparency Research Network. She has co-authored a book
on Theories and Approaches of international Politics (2011, New Delhi: Vikas Publishing House). Her current area
of interest is exploring securitization and security policies in a comparative perspective and exploring International Relations from the perspectives of post-colonial countries.
